I am always surprised by what a few warm days in winter can do to bring up new plant shoots. This week's polar vortex (derecho and now polar vortex---are the meteorologists making up these terms?) would have you believing that those bulbs planted last fall are in a deep hibernation state. But we know that a few warm January days is all it takes to see some blossoms on forsythia bushes. This week I saw some of the signs that Spring flowers can weather our recent cold spell. Below are some daffodil shoots starting to come up in our front yard.
Our neighbors yard even showed signs of his Spring irises coming to life.
Cheer up Spring will be here soon!
