New best bagels in Howard County
For most of us the bagels at the Bagel Bin have always been the ones that most represented what a "real" bagel should be like. None of those bready fake bagels that are sold in most grocery stores. A real bagel had to be crusty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The pictures above are from my new favorite bagel store---Wegmans. Yes, a grocery store that makes their own bagels that top the Bagel Bin ones. My favorite bagel has always been the everything bagel. The poppy seed es are also great. Instead of cream cheese I like to put on some of the Maryland crab dip that is sold at Wegmans.
From the Columbia Association:
CA accepting applications for Maggie J. Brown Spirit of Columbia Scholarship Award
Local high school students have an opportunity to receive one of several $2,500 scholarship awards recognizing their efforts in the community.
Columbia Association’s (CA) Maggie J. Brown Spirit of Columbia Scholarship Award is awarded annually to Columbia high school seniors who have shown a history of providing community service to benefit Columbia residents and those in the Columbia area. For more than 20 years, CA has been recognizing high school seniors for outstanding service to their community.
This year, up to six $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who have a demonstrated history of voluntary service to the Columbia community. The seniors must live on CA-assessed property or who have a parent/guardian who works full time on or owns CA-assessed property. The seniors must be graduating in June 2013 from an accredited public, private or parochial high school and need to have a minimum of a “C” cumulative grade point average (2.0).
