For everyone who read my blog on garlic mustard plant invasion in our area there is an event this weekend to consider joining. The Friends of the Patapsco Greenway is hosting a "garlic mustard pull" that sounds fun. According to their website the activities this Sunday include:
Live music by well-known local guitarist and singer, Sam"Muleman"
Miller
- Scavenger nature hunt
- Old fashioned games including pillowcase races, egg toss, wheelbarrow
races, the limbo, and more!
- Kid-friendly environmental exhibits, including a community storm water
run-off model, invasive plants, rain barrel demonstration, composting,
trees and forestry information, samples of live insects and critters
found in clean streams & rivers and more!
- And later…free sampling of delicious gourmet garlic mustard dishes
prepared by local amateur chefs
We are fortunate to live near the National Wildlife Center just down the road in Laurel. This sounds like a fascinating place that I am going to try and visit this weekend. I will blog on it next week.
Enjoy the nice weather this weekend.
P.S.
If you have school age children who like art you might want to have them enter the HC Library's Bookmark contest that is going on now.
