Rube Goldberg Machines inspire HoCo youth

As part of the A+ program of the HoCo Library the Rube Goldberg machine program gives HoCo students a chance to learn about engineering and physics and have some fun.  The Friends of the Library is the sponsor of this program and a good way to support the Library. For those unfamiliar with a Rube Goldberg machine (are there really people who don't know what a Rube Goldberg machine is??) you have probably seen these contraptions (as pictured above) but may not have know what they were.
Yesterday at the new Miller branch of the HoCo library the trophies were given out to the winning teams.
An overflow crowd of parents and students attended the event and show how popular this event has become.

If you still think of a library as just stacks of books and periodicals you have missed what libraries in HoCo have become. With farmer's markets, book clubs, educational programs, financial literacy programs, Choose Civility, meeting spaces and passport services, the libraries have become community centers for the many of our communities.
