The Village: A new concept in aging


     Senior citizens in Howard County are coming together to discuss how they can form a supportive community.  This effort is having a community event this Saturday to explore how this effort can be established in Howard County.  At present there are over 85 villages that have been established across the United States. This video from AARP explains the concept.

This information was sent by the steering committee of this effort:

      "A 'Village' provides self-sufficiency and helps seniors to stay in their homes as they age in our community. It enables seniors to live independently and stay connected to their community. Consider being an active participant in this new concept of aging in community:

    January 28th Village Meeting at the Miller Library

    Join us for further discussion on forming a Village here in Howard County. This focus of the meeting will be the next steps in forming a 501(c)(3) non-profit, types of membership that will be available, a name and a mission statement for the Village.
