Night Out in Howard County tonight

Night Out is an event to bring attention to crime prevention in communities across this country.  This may seem less important in a relatively safe county like Howard County but every community can do more to lessen the rate of crimes in their community.  Simple things like always locking your car door and not leaving your garage door open can stop a number of common causes of theft.  This year Howard County Government is hosting its Night Out event at the North Laurel Community Center.  From the Parks and Rec website:

"Join the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks and the Howard County Police at North Laurel Community Center to celebrate National Night Out. Enjoy a free Traveling Bands concert featuring the U.S. Air Force Max Impact; skate park trick competition and product demos by Rascals Board Shop; and much more.
What: National Night Out, America's Night Out Against Crime
Who: Sponsored by the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks and the Howard County Police
When: Tuesday, August 7, 6-9 PM
Where: North Laurel Community Center, 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road, Laurel, MD 20723. Information: 410-313-0390"

P.S.
Does everyone at the beach this week really have to post their photos on Facebook to remind of us that we are not at the beach?!!   Do they celebrate Night Out at the beach?

P.S.1
Ever notice that August is the month with no real holidays?  Of course it is probably the biggest vacation month of the year and more people have birthdays in August than any other month.
