Living close to DC has the advantage of having some great gardens within a 30-45 minute drive. With the weather nice the next few days I wanted to let you know about 3 gardens to check out this summer.
The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens are just a short drive down the Baltimore Washington Parkway and in an area of northeast DC that you would not expect to see a water garden but it is a peaceful place with lots of water lilies and waterfowl. Take a camera.
On your way down to the Aquatic Gardens you can stop in on the National Arboretum also off of the BW Parkway. We have missed the beautiful azalea show that is every Spring but there is much more to see at this time of the year. Don’t miss the bonsai garden.
Finally how about a butterfly exhibit? The Brookside Gardens in Wheaton has a “Wings of Fancy” butterfly exhibit this summer. I haven’t been to this yet but understand it is great to experience.
Get out on enjoy nature this summer. The snows will be back with us all too soon.
