Have you heard any new ideas for our community?
How many times have you heard someone say, "What this community needs is_________?" Most of the time that's as far as the idea goes. That is a lost opportunity to improve our community. Recently I was talking about what our community was missing was a meeting place like the old Mrs. Z's restaurant. For all of you who were early residents of Columbia Mrs. Z's was the place you took visitors to show what this town was all about. It was a small homey place to enjoy a meal in a intimate homey environment. Not at all like the impersonal chain restaurants that populate our town now. I know I am not the only one that mourns the loss of a place like Mrs. Z's. I know that our town in 2011 is not like 1978 but how do we get a place like that again? Are we turning into "Anyplace USA"? Any ideas?
